The charm is in the various attractions – chestnut trees, holly fields and ash trees, camellias, cedars, old olive trees, oak and pine trees of great proportions, liquidambars, araucarias and sequoias, a vast wood; small orchards with an enormous variety of trees – large mandarin trees, arbutus berry trees, persimmon trees, and the vegetable garden with spicy plants and seasonings (rosemary, lavender, basil, nasturtium, camomile, young onion shoots, fennel, laurel, origan, basil, citrons, thyme… ); ample lawns; flower beds of agapanthus and hibiscus, hortensia, jasmine and gardenia, beautifully scented white wisteria; two water tanks – old oil press – one with gold fish, nenuphars and yellow lilies; water that runs from a mine and from the hill of consorts, a lake, wild waters, a brook. In the neighbourhood you will meet other inhabitants of the Quinta do Casal, such as fish and wild ducks in the big lake, and squirrels and the birds in the trees. Close to the Manor House, you will find the chapel, a new and original space of refection with picturesque wall paintings of great quality. You also have at your disposal the games room in the main house, where you may have some moments of leisure playing snooker, billiards, table tennis and so on. |
